This year, I am walking in memory of two very special ladies. My Nee & my Nana.
Cardiovascular disease remains the #1 killer of Americans, but together, we can change this statistic. We all know someone who has been impacted by a heart event or stroke, and each of us benefit everyday from the work of the American Heart Association.
I walk for my Nee, who fought heart disease for years of her life. Last December, we lost Nee to complications following a cardiac arrest (where our family performed hands-only CPR). In January, we lost my Nana to a stroke after her own long and hard fought battle with heart disease.
I walk because I am grateful for the 24 years of life I got to spend with my grandmas, carrying many of their traits with me now. I walk because heart disease will continue to claim 1 in 3 lives in the US, but, together, we can be the difference.
I ask for your donation in honor of my grandmas and all others we have lost to heart disease. You can actively safe a life today by supporting the Heart Walk.
