My Heart Walk journey began 15 years ago when my dad suffered a massive heart attack. That moment changed everything for our family. Since then, heart health has become deeply personal to me. Not just as a nurse, but as a daughter, sister, a stepdaughter, friend and a believer in the power of community and healing. Everyone has known someone affected by heart disease and this year, I’m walking in honor of my father, both of my stepdads, my sister, and my beloved dog.
My dad turned 80 this year, and by God’s grace, he is alive and well. He’ll be present at the walk, though not participating, and I’m so grateful to still have him with us. My stepdads both passed away due to heart-related conditions, and their memory fuels my commitment to this cause. My sister and my dog have also been part of this journey, reminding me that heart health touches every part of our lives.
Since 2010, my family and I have made the Heart Walk a tradition. Something we look forward to every year. We walk because we know that with every step, alongside millions of other Heart Walk Heroes, we’re making a difference in someone’s life. We walk with hope, with purpose, and with love.
Will you be a Heart Walk Hero with me and help me reach my goal of $1,000?
