As laboratory professionals, we perform critical life-saving testing on patients who suffer from cardiac arrest or need routine care for their heart disease. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the US, claiming about 695,000 lives annually, or approximately 1 in 5 deaths.

 

9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed.
