Heartache is why I walk. Almost 12 years ago now I lost a very special person. My Grandmother. We lost her quickly and unexpectedly due to a massive heart attack. She was a one of a kind person and was so much more than a grandmother to not only myself and my cousins. She was also a mother to her 5 children, a wife, a sister, a nurse, a great grandmother, a friend..... She was the matriarch of our family. The one that held us all together even when we didn't know it. Her family was so important to her and she loved us fiercely! The hole that her absence has left can never be filled. So I walk to honor her. I walk so that one day other families won't have to feel or experience the pain and loss that my family has due to heart disease. I walk to support research and advanced technology that will help support and care for all the little warriors that are born with heart defects. I walk for them and I walk for her!
