In 2023, as you all know, I experienced a heart attack while 37 weeks pregnant with my daughter. At the age of 31, with no known origin of reason and a healthy pregnancy, my life decisions needed to be made within seconds by medical doctors and specialists. While undergoing open-heart surgery, I also needed an emergency cesarean section to save my daughter's life. My daughter survived, thanks to the amazing neonatal ICU team and I survived, which statistically I should have not. I owe my life to all the extradinary teams for not only saving my life, but my daughter's life as well, and I owe all their training and expertise to the American Heart Association.
As someone personally affected by heart disease and stroke, it is important to note heart disease and stroke are the #1 and #5 killers in the US, and are the greatest threats to our family and friends. The American Heart Association is counting on those in the community, like us, to make a difference. The fight against heart disease and stroke is important to me, which is why Iam asking you to join my team and help fight for a cause. Lets lead a team of success and walk for those that matter most to us in this world!
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this.
Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.
I Walk to Save Lives. Help me reach my goal today.
