I’ll be participating in the American Heart Association Walk to raise funds in honor of my father.
7 years ago, he experienced a life-threatening 90% blockage in one artery and 40% in another artery in his heart. Thankfully, he received care just in time—something many others aren’t as fortunate to get. While his life was saved, the ongoing heart issues have led to vascular dementia, a difficult journey for him and our family.
This cause is incredibly close to my heart. I’m walking not only for my dad, but for the countless others affected by heart disease and its complications. The AHA funds life-saving research, education, and support that can truly make a difference.
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this.
