When Andy Boryczka and Karen Nissen-Boryczka invited me to join Team242 almost a decade ago my connection to heart disease was not personal.
Fast forward to December 2015, it became pretty personal when my step dad, Bill, underwent open-heart surgery. Unfortunately, since 2015, my connection to heart disease has deepended; I have had three of my grandparents experience heart health issues including Atrial fibrillation, stroke, heart attack, stent procedures for blocked arteries, and complications due to COPD.
I believe leading a quality life is more important now than ever. The AHA supports life saving research to ensure we can all live healthy/quality lives.
