I've been involved with the Heart Association for over 10 years, am a member of the Circle of Red and now serve on the Board. Over 10 years ago I had heart surgery to fix a congenital heart defect (PFO closure/ASD repair). My father Dr Ernie Eggers has had 6 cardiac episodes in the last 10 years and countless surgeries to address electrical issues with his heart and now is fighting CHF. Other family members have also been impacted by heart disease. I have dear friends who have lost their life or been impacted by heart disease.
