In 2019, I had a stroke due to a blood infection that had infected my aortic heart valve. A piece of the infection had broken off and flowed up into my brain. Thankfully, the doctors were able to successfully remove the blockage with an emergency thrombectomy.
But my journey had just begun as the cardiologist found the badly infected aortic heart valve that required 8 hours of open heart surgery to replace it with a Homograft donated human heart valve.
I am grateful to the amazing doctors, nurses, facilities, organ donor, and technological advances that made my full recovery possible. Years ago...I would not have survived this life event. I wouldn't be present for my wife and sons.
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every dollar donated, means more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone.
