2026 Detroit Heart and Stroke Walk & 5K
The Nursing Assistant Practice Council at HFMH
I’m proud to share that we are entering our second year as the Nursing Assistant Practice Council at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital!
In our inaugural year, we focused on building structure, strengthening frontline engagement, and creating meaningful opportunities for nursing assistants to contribute beyond the bedside. One of our highlights included hosting a “Pie a Leader” event to drive awareness and support for our cause — an initiative that reflected both collaboration and community spirit.
This year, we are proud to support the American Heart Association Heart and Stroke Walk alongside systemwide leadership, including Margaret Anderson, as we collectively advance cardiac arrest awareness and CPR education across our communities.
As we begin year two, we’ve set a fundraising goal of $1,000 to support lifesaving CPR education and cardiac arrest awareness efforts.
Nine out of ten individuals who experience cardiac arrest outside of a hospital do not survive. In many of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. Expanding community readiness is not just a public health priority — it is a shared responsibility.
Every team member who joins.
Every contribution made.
Every conversation started.
It all contributes to stronger outcomes and safer communities.
If you’re interested in supporting our efforts, I invite you to join our team or contribute toward our goal. Together, we can help transform bystanders into lifesavers.
