Elizabeth was born with an AVSD (atrialventricular septal defect.) She was on oxygen 100% of the time for almost three months. She was on constant medication to keep fluid away from her heart. At three months old Elizabeth had open heart surgery. Her rhythm did not come back during recovery so she had another surgery to place her pacemaker. Today is she is thriving and doing well!

9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this.

 

Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
