Saturday January 31, 2026 marked my 10-year “Rebirth Day.”

A decade ago, on that date I lay prone on a tennis court not breathing, and no heart beat – clinically speaking I was dead.

The only reason I am alive, the 1 person out of 10 who suffers sudden cardiac arrest outside of a hospital and lives to tell of it, is that there was an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in the club, and two CPR trained people who knew what to do with it.

And so, once again, I’m Coaching a Team (High Seas) to raise funds for The American Heart Association via the 2026 Washtenaw County Heart Walk. Last year, thanks to you, we raised over $5,000 walking and running the 5K at Hudson Mills Metro Park.
