I originally chose to be a heart walk coach to honor the loss of losing a best friend from heart disease, my great grandmother Marlene.
In February of 2022 my little sister had a heart attack at the age of 24 from SCAD (Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection). This is typically found in women over the age of 60 and since she has already had it previously she is at high risk of having SCAD again. My sister has had several strokes since then and is on numerous medications - medications she most likely will have to take the rest of her life.
This goes to show that no matter what age you are, you or your loved ones could be affected by heart issues. Every 40 seconds, someone has a heart attack. Each year, nearly 800,000 people experience a new or recurring stroke. That's equal to the population of Atlanta and Minneapolis combined.
Your donation will fund groundbreaking research that literally keeps hearts beating and helps people have longer, healthier lives.
