Dear Friends and Family,
Nancy and I are looking forward to the Twin Cities Heart Walk on Saturday, May 30, 2026. We have participated in this American Heart Association fundraising event for many years. However, this year my participation is more personal than ever before.
Shockingly, I was diagnosed with coronary artery disease this past winter, necessitating open heart surgery to address multiple blockages in the main arteries of my heart. On March 30, I had triple bypass surgery at Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute. Prior to diagnosis, I was asymptomatic and therefore incredibly fortunate that my blockages were discovered BEFORE I had a major heart incident. Unfortunately, many others, including our parents, were not that lucky.
On May 30, the day of the Heart Walk, it will be exactly 60 days since my bypass surgery. I am working hard at cardiac rehabilitation, determined to be strong enough to fully participate in the walk again this year.
Heart disease is the number one cause of death worldwide, and stroke ranks second. Even when these conditions don’t result in death, they cause disability and diminish quality of life.
Your contribution to the Heart Walk will fund research and outreach programs to help reduce the frequency of cardiovascular disease. It will also provide valuable education on bystander CPR and heart healthy behaviors.
Your participation in this fundraising event is most appreciated. Nancy and I are happy to reciprocate with contributions to causes that are important to you.

Thank you for your consideration and generosity.
