After my hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy diagnosis and subsequent septal myectomy & ICD placement, the AHA's mission has taken a whole new meaning. Since I am at a higher risk for sudden cardiac arrest, I've learned a lot from the AHA's website about cardiac arrest in general, and have taken an interest in helping educate people around me about SCA response in hopes of creating a ripple effect. The more people that know how to perform hands-only CPR and use an AED as a bystander, the more people can hopefully survive SCA.
