On August 20, 2023, our lives changed forever when my husband, Nick, suffered a sudden aortic dissection. In an instant, the man who was the center of our family was taken from us far too soon at the age of 41.

Nick was an incredible husband, father, and friend. He loved deeply, laughed often, and brought strength and joy to everyone around him. Every day, we feel the impact of his absence, but we also carry his love with us in everything we do.

This year, I will walk alongside our three children, Porter, Knoxwell, and Noella in Nick’s honor during the Heart Walk. We walk to remember him, to celebrate the life he lived, and to raise awareness about heart health so that other families may be spared this kind of heartbreak.
