Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States since 1921. Half of the US population have some type of cardiovascular disease, including coronary heart disease, heart failure, stroke, and most notably, high blood pressure. 

 

Heart disease looks different for everyone. For me, it's Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD). SCAD happens when an otherwise healthy artery wall tears. Most SCAD patients are women, and if you've had one SCAD event, you're at high risk of having a secondary event. 

 

My goal is to increase awareness of cardiovascular disease, including identification and prevention measures. I'm personally hopeful that improved detection methods will be developed to allow for more proactive interventions.

 

It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every walker who joins, every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research, and more lifesaving moments for everyone.
