THIS IS A LOVE STORY, THIS IS MY WHY...
It was June 23, 2019 when my husband, Rick, had a major heart attack.
At 48 years of age, with good blood pressure, good cholesterol numbers, good weight management, healthy diet, healthy cardiac calcium tests, and clean stress tests, it was certainly not expected. We'd always known it could happen someday due to the genetics of his father (who passed at 44 years of age), but not expected for Rick that day.
Do you know the signs of a heart attack? He had them all:
*Chest pain or discomfort.
*Upper body pain or discomfort in the arms, back, neck, jaw, or upper stomach.
*Shortness of breath.
*Nausea, lightheadedness, or cold sweats.
Anyone experiencing some or all of these symptoms should call 9-1-1.
Don't ignore and think it will go away. By the time you change your mind, it could be to late.
2026 will be our 19th year participating in the Cincinnati Heart Walk. I participate for my father (two triple bypasses 30 years apart), mother, brother (triple bypass, valve replacement), sister (stents), Rick's father, Rick's mother (triple bypass), Rick (quintuple bypass!) and myself (sudden cardiac arrest during a mastectomy). Rick and I will be walking on March 15th. And to think, either one of us could have been walking alone.
Help me help the American Heart Association.
The heart saved might be your own.
