Vinny's Story (as written by Amanda, daughter)
My dad was just 37 when he died from a massive heart attack that led to cardiac arrest. That morning, he had been shoveling snow before heading to work, where he collapsed, alone. No one saw him go down. No one was able to help. No one knew what to do. But my dad was so much more than the way he died.He was funny and nostalgic, the kind of person who could make a friend out of a stranger. He was a loving son, a loyal brother, a caring partner, and the best dad I could have ever asked for. He taught me how to cook. We spent hours at the table doing math homework or playing Yahtzee. He loved fast cars and made them even faster, meeting up with his racing buddies on the weekends. He was so talented; he could play the drums, guitar, and even sing. He went to urgent care when he felt like something was wrong. But they sent him home with antacids and baby aspirin. Two weeks later, he was gone. Sharing Vinny's story is important. Losing my dad taught me that I can save my life and others by being an advocate in doctors office, and by learning CPR. Join me!
