2026 Cincinnati Heart Mini-Marathon & Walk
The Family Brookster Brigade
Nine out of ten people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of these cases, bystander CPR was not performed. I am fortunate to say, this was not my case.
In May of 2025, I suffered from cardiac arrest at only 28 years old. The event was traumatic, the recovery long and grueling, but I cannot express the gratitude I now have for life.
I am very thankful that my boyfriend, Adam, is properly trained in CPR, as he is an Eagle Scout. Had he not been there when the event occured, I may have been on the wrong side of that statistic. I am forever grateful for his ability to jump to action in a time of crisis.
Cardiac arrests happen in homes, at work, and in neighborhoods everywhere. The readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
I've started a team for the 2026 Heart Mini-Marathon & Walk. I walk for those who have experiences like mine, for those who weren't as fortunate, and for the families everywhere who have had to navigate these hardships. Any donations to this team will go toward helping the community get proper CPR training, as well as funding future research for heart health. I greatly appreciate anything anyone would like to give, and I welcome people to join the team and walk with us on March 15th. Let's save lives together!
