I will be walking in memory of my nephew, Carter. Carter was born with multiple congenital heart defects and underwent several open heart surgeries during his short life. He fought with incredible strength and courage, but ultimately passed away just shy of being a year and a half old.
As we approach the first anniversary of his passing on September 1st, I’m walking to honor his memory, and for all the other children and families who have faced or will face the unimaginable challenges of congenital heart disease.
Carter’s life was far too short, but his memory continues to inspire so much love and purpose. I hope that by walking and raising funds for the American Heart Association, we can help support lifesaving research that will give more children the chance to grow up and more families the chance to have more time together.
