This year marks my third year leading EY Columbus's fundraising efforts for the American Heart Association, and this year's Heart Walk is more personal than ever.

In June, my dad underwent open-heart surgery and is now a survivor. Watching someone you love go through that experience gives you a new appreciation for every moment together. As a new father myself, it has also reinforced the importance of heart health and the gift of time with family.

My dad is my "why." I'm incredibly grateful for the doctors, nurses, researchers, and medical advances that helped save his life. Their work gave our family more time together.
