The human heart has to increase it's exertion anywhere between 25-150% more to walk with a prosthesis or an orthosis. Every heart beat pushes oxygen to the brain, the muslces and vital organs that keep us alive. When it is in dysfunction, the rest of the body follows. 

 

 

Last year was my, and Team Hanger Clinic's first year participating in the AHA Heart Walk. It was an incredible event where many indivuals displayed the power of motivation, community support and determination. It was a hugely successful event for our team, leading to sweat, tears of joy, and significant gains which have carried over to home.
