On September 29, 2025, our family’s world changed forever when my 14-year-old nephew, Lucas, suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at school. What began as an ordinary day became every family’s worst nightmare.
Lucas fought for his life for 10 days, surrounded by the love of his family, friends, and an incredible medical team. On October 9, 2025, we said goodbye to a young man who was loved beyond words.
No family expects to lose a child this way. Sudden cardiac arrest can happen without warning, and our family learned firsthand how important awareness, education, CPR training, and access to AEDs can be.
I am walking in the American Heart Association Heart Walk in Lucas’s memory. I walk to honor his life, to keep his memory alive, and to help support research, education, and programs that can save lives and spare other families from this heartbreak.
Lucas will always be missed, always be loved, and never be forgotten.
Thank you for supporting this cause and helping us create hope in his memory.
