2026 Kansas City Heart & Stroke Walk
Marci's Memory
Marceline Phillips was born on September 24, 2024 and passed away after an 18 month battle with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome on April 23, 2026.
Her parents knew her walk-in life would be hard. On October 10th, 2024, Marci had her first open heart surgery and spent eighty-seven days hospitalized to recover. Once home, Marci blossomed and grew every day. On April 8th, 2025, Marci had her second open-heart surgery and another week-long hospital stay. Once home again, Marci continued to grow and blossom. On June 26th, 2025, Marci graduated the CHAMP program at Children’s Mercy and was considered stable enough to not be constantly monitored.
She developed a love of books and food. Marci could spend all day reading books; she loved to listen to the words and help flip through the pages. Marci loved berries and cheese the most. Another passion Marci developed was watching Ms. Rachel. She loved her songs and could watch them for hours if allowed. Despite Marci’s difficult start in life, she always had a smile and never let her heart difference impact her short life.
