2026 Kansas City Heart & Stroke Walk
Team Emilia
Emilia’s heart journey began before she was even born. Diagnosed in utero with congenital heart disease, she entered the world already fighting — and proving just how mighty a tiny heart can be. At just 10 days old, she was placed on a heartandlung bypass machine, and days later underwent her first openheart surgery. Her second came at 6 months old, and her third at age 4.
Today, Emilia is a bubbly, creative, pandaloving 6yearold who is proud of her “superline” — her badge of bravery and proof that she’s stronger than any challenge thrown her way. She brings joy, imagination, and her signature sparkle to everything she does.
We walk for Emilia because her story reminds us how powerful early detection, education, and hearthealthy habits can be. We walk to empower families facing CHD, to spread awareness about the many types of heart disease, and to help everyone — even those without heart conditions — learn how to care for their hearts and recognize early warning signs.
Emilia’s heart may have needed extra help, but her spirit has always been unstoppable. And with every step we take, we’re helping build a future where more kids like her get the chance to grow, thrive, and shine.
