Hi, I’m Taylor!
One of my favorite parts of my job at the American Heart Association is connecting with survivors, caregivers, and families affected by heart disease, stroke, and cardiac arrest. People like Bonnie Beckman, Jacob Dockery, Lance Newman, Jim Allsopp, David Dropkin, and Chris Smyth have inspired me with their resilience and courage.
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S., responsible for nearly 1 in 3 deaths. Stroke affects someone in the U.S. every 40 seconds and is a leading cause of serious long-term disability. Every year, about 23,000 children experience cardiac arrest, with 40% occurring during youth sports and 20% in infants. 9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside a hospital do not survive. Through education, advocacy, and support, the Heart Association is helping people recognize warning signs, respond in emergencies, and live longer, healthier lives.
I walk to honor survivors, caregivers, and loved ones lost and to be part of a movement that saves lives, strengthens communities, and spreads awareness about the importance of heart and brain health.
