We all know someone whose life has been touched by heart disease. For me, that someone is me.
I was born with a narrowed aorta, and at just two weeks old, I had my first open-heart surgery. My family was told I had a 50/50 chance of living or dying. That’s how my story began—fighting for my life before I even had the chance to live it.
Since then, my journey hasn’t been easy. I’ve undergone multiple procedures and faced a second open-heart surgery later in life after doctors determined an angioplasty was no longer enough. Each time, I’ve had to put my trust in medicine, in technology, and in the incredible doctors who made it possible for me to be here today.
I carry those experiences with me every day. They’ve shaped who I am, how I see the world, and how deeply I value every single moment. This cause isn’t just close to my heart—it is my heart. It’s my past, my present, and part of my future.
And while I am proud to call myself a survivor, my journey isn’t over. I still face the possibility of future heart surgery. That reality is why this mission matters so much to me—because continued research, awareness, and support mean more people get a chance at life… just like I did.
I am walking for the two-week-old baby who fought to survive. I am walking for every surgery, every scar, and every second chance. And I am walking for everyone who is still fighting their own battle.
Please support the ADP Heart Walk team and this life-saving cause. Take care of your heart—get checked, listen to your body, and don’t ignore the symptoms. Your life could depend on it.
Mine did.
