Heart health has deeply impacted my family in ways I never expected.
My mom was diagnosed with heart failure in 2018, and in 2021, my sister was also diagnosed with heart failure, along with a genetic heart mutation. More recently, I learned that I carry the same mutation, and both of my children do as well.
What once felt like something that affected "other people" suddenly became very personal for our family. There have been moments of fear and uncertainty, but also gratitude for early detection, ongoing care, and the ability to take proactive steps for our health.
This year marks my third year participating in the SE Wisconsin Heart & Stroke Walk/5K Run. For me, this walk is a way to honor my family's journey, raise awareness, and support research that can truly change lives.
Every step, donation, and show of support makes a difference.
