When I was 8 years old, I witnessed my father suffer a heart attack. He was only 33. What followed was a lifelong journey with heart disease, including open- heart surgery and many medical challenges along the way.
Today, I am incredibly grateful to say my dad is 80 years old - and on October 3rd, he will be walking with me.
I am sponsoring a team for the Ashtabula County AHA Walk at SPIRE in Geneva, Ohio, with a goal of raising of $1,000.
His life is a powerful reminder of what cardiac research, and advances in medicine, skilled physicians and timely intervention can make possible: more years, more memories and more time with the people we love.
