In a heartbeat, you could be the difference.
I walk because in 2015 I had a Widow Maker heart attack and the doctors gave me a one percent chance of surviving. I walk because I've had nine heart surgeries. I walk because I have end stage heart disease, cardiovascular disease cardiomyopathy and now I live with a mechanical heart called an LVAD (left ventricle assisted device). I walk because if it was not for The American Heart Association and the funding raised for research and development, I would not be alive today. I am a longtime advocate and supporter for The American Heart Association and I walk because if my testimony saves one life then all of the things that I have been through will not be in vain.
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital don't survive. Most of the time, it's because no one nearby performed CPR. But together, we can change that.
Extraordinary things happen when people take action. A small step. A simple skill. A lifesaving moment. Heart Walk brings communities together to create health and hope for every heartbeat. Every walker who joins, every dollar donated, means more people trained in CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone.
Extraordinary starts with YOU. Help me reach my goal today!
