A few years ago, I never imagined I would be writing this.
I am a survivor of congestive heart failure. There were times when my future felt uncertain, and I learned firsthand how important research, education, and support are for people facing heart disease. Thanks to advances in treatment, incredible healthcare professionals, and the support of family and friends, I am still here today and doing well.
Because of that, I have decided to support the American Heart Association, our local Heart Walk in Joplin, and set a personal fundraising goal of $5,000. It's an ambitious goal, but I believe in the power of community. We probably all know someone who has gone through a heart struggle.
If everyone who sees this gave just a few dollars, together we could make a real difference in the fight against heart disease and stroke. Every donation, no matter the size, helps fund research, education, and lifesaving programs that impact families every day.
If you are able, I would be honored if you would consider making a donation. If donating isn't possible right now, sharing this post would mean just as much.
Thank you for your support, your friendship, and for helping me turn my own heart journey into something that can help others.
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this.
Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.
I Walk to Save Lives. Help me reach my goal today.
