My commitment to the American Heart Association is deeply personal. This isn’t just another fundraiser—it’s life-changing.
When I was 15, my world shattered. My dad, who had been silently battling heart disease, suffered a sudden heart attack while playing tennis. Despite taking preventive measures, it was his time, and there was nothing we could do. Losing him so young left me feeling robbed, and it took years—YEARS—to believe life could be beautiful again after grief.
Fast forward to 2016: during my daughter Violet’s three-year well-child visit, her pediatrician paused a little too long while listening to her heart. My stomach dropped. We were referred to CCHMC, and after weeks of waiting and a battery of tests—EKG, EEG, Echo—we received the diagnosis: Bicuspid Aortic Valve, a congenital heart defect. That moment was terrifying. Since then, we’ve taken every step to monitor her health and pray for strength and protection.
Today, at 40, I can say I’m living my best life. I eat healthy, exercise, and cherish my two beautiful daughters and loving husband. Every day, we fight the good fight against heart disease. We know it’s real, it’s scary, and it cannot be ignored. Healthy living is part of our daily routine—from morning to bedtime prayers.
I’m grateful for the platform the American Heart Association provides, and I invite you to join me on this journey. Please consider participating in the walk, run, or donating. Every dollar makes a difference—and your support helps CCHMC continue its incredible work.
Together, we can create healthier, longer lives for everyone.
Thank you for your support!
