Four years ago I was experiencing chest pain and didn't think much of it. When having my annual physical in order to get my biometrics done to complete by health steps prior to the new benefits year, I mentioned it to my doctor. My biometrics were not great but not alarming. My doctor was concerned nontheless which ultimately led to a failed stress test, an angiogram and 2 stents implanted into my left coronary artery commonly called the "widow maker".
I was fortunate and have been able to take steps to improve my health, likely adding years on to my life, by radically changing my diet, adding exercise and ultimately losing 50lbs. I am sharing my personal story with others who may think nothing of a minor ache in the chest so that maybe they can benefit from learning about my experience or even better they can make the lifestyle changes I have and hopefully avoid the pain, discomfort, the wire mesh foreign objects that are in my heart and the daily medication I must take for the rest of my life.
So please join me as we dedicate this year's walk to our dear friend and colleague George Malek and help us raise money in his memory for a great organization focused on prevention and treatment of the number 1 killer in the US and taking part in a little healthy exercise at the same time.
Thank you in advance for your support!
