Heart health is deeply personal to my family. At 16, after experiencing symptoms like presyncope, shortness of breath, and exercise intolerance, I was diagnosed with an atrial septal defect (ASD), mitral valve prolapse, and aortic insufficiency. At 18, I underwent a cardiac catheterization to repair the holes in my heart.
This year, my daughter began experiencing many of the same symptoms and was recently diagnosed with an ASD of her own.
That's why we walk. We walk for research, better treatments, earlier detection, and for the hope that future generations can live longer, healthier, and more fulfilling lives.
