I walk for my Mom...
My Mom’s struggle with heart disease came to end on October 29, 2012 when she was just sixty-one years old, the same age I’ll be when my youngest daughter graduates from high school. Besides being an amazing mother to me and my four siblings she was the glue that held our family together, as well as one of my very best friends.
The medically confounding thing about my mother’s story was despite a lifetime of never smoking, rarely drinking and normal cholesterol levels by the time of her passing she had been fighting a losing battle with heart disease for almost a decade. In spite of massive medical interventions over the years including numerous angioplasties, thirteen cardiac stents and months in the hospital under the supervision of an army of cardiac specialists nothing could stop the progression of her disease.
Every dollar makes a difference and the money raised in Kansas City stays in Kansas City to aid research. For me this is a cause worth fighting for and why I'm asking for your support.
