I am personally impacted by heart issues. In college, I experienced a dizzy spell followed by what appeared to friends as a stroke. After a brain scan and a sleep study, no stroke activity was found. However, an echo cardiogram noticed a slow drip between by left and right chambers of my heart.
After a visit to the cardiologist and TEE procedure, it was confirmed the PFO in my heart never closed after birth. This hole exists in everyone before birth, but most often will close shortly birth.
While my treatment is daily aspirin, I rely on the American Heart Association to be leaders in heart health, keeping me and YOU healthy.
