For this year’s heart walk I’d like for us all to focus on keeping a healthy heart to keep it ticking and expressing the love we have for each other. This is my good friend Jeff, who recently passed away at the young age of 57. As an owner of the most popular Sports Bar/Restaurant in the county, Jeff had been a pillar in his community for decades. His out-going, fun loving energy and caring demeanor has touched countless lives as noted in every local news outlet that published articles on the sad news of his death.
Jeff engages in nonstop conversations with many patrons about sports and topics of the day; however, him and I would also talk very candidly about his health. I’d share advice and direction on staying active/keep moving to maintaining a heathy heart and blood flow. To address my first point, keep the heart ticking. I encourage everyone to get annual checkups. At a minimum get blood panels done regardless on how healthy you think you are. You never know what issues may exist in time to be corrected.
My second point is to not be shy to share those 3 simple words; I love you. This goes far beyond spouses and family members. I’ve known Jeff for over 20 years. I don’t know when it started, but all I know is it never ended. When ever we would end our many conversations it would end with, ‘love you Timmy; ‘love you too Jeffy. The very last text from Jeff a couple days prior to his passing was…”THANKS TIM THAT IS WHY I LUV YOU ALWAYS THINKING OF OTHERS AND TO HELP ANYWAY YOU CAN ❤❤❤❤.”
Luv you too, Jeff. Rest In Peace. This year’s Heart Walk, I walk for you.
