This will be my 2nd year participating in the Twin Cities Heart Walk. My incentive to participate in this walk is three-fold.
First, I walk for myself, in celebration that my heart is in good shape even after right-sided heart failure in 2018 from the stress of a pulmonary embolism. I am grateful that I have an arsenal of doctors, including a cardiologist, who listen to the concerns I have over the health of my heart, and who take the necessary steps to investigate those concerns and discuss treatment options.
Second, I walk for those who have not been able to walk away unscathed from cardiovascular issues. Specifically, I walk in memory of Woody Mueller, who passed away in 2021 after suffering two strokes. I miss you, Woody.
Finally, I walk for those who will encounter heart disease and stroke in the future, to contribute to the education, research, and training of the healthcare professionals who will take care of them.
Thank you for your contribution.
