I've lost many loved ones to heart disease, including my grandpa Bob Varani in 2019. But what many people may not know is that my Dad has also had a couple of heart attacks since 2022. As a result of his diabetes, he has cardiovascular issues and is at higher risk for heart disease. My Dad is doing fine now and was a star graduate of cardiac rehab at St. Luke's! But it reminds me just how many people heart disease affects.
So I walk in memory of my Papa, my Grandma, two dear Uncles, and others that I've lost. But I also walk to celebrate my Dad as a Survivor. And I walk for my Mother and another Uncle who are beating their genetic odds and living longer and healthier lives than their younger brothers. And I walk so that my kids and future generations of my family will ALL live longer, healthier lives.
I know that with every step, I’m making a difference in someone’s life. And when combined with a million other Heart Walk Heroes across the nation, we have an even greater impact toward curing heart disease and stroke.
Will you be a Heart Walk Hero with me? Together we are making a difference and saving lives through research, education, CPR training, improved patient care, and more.
Have a heart and help me reach my goal today!
