As an emergency physician in a heart hospital, I have seen so many lives affected by heart disease and stroke. It is true that preventing heart disease is the best course of action. It is also important to go to the emergency department if you are having any symptoms that could possibly be due to a heart attack or stroke. "Don't Die of Doubt" is a great campaign. Paying attention to the warning signs can prevent or minimize the amount of damage to your heart. You are not "bothering" the ED staff by getting your symptoms evaluated, but it will "bother" your family if you ignore the signs and die.
