February is American Heart Month. A reminder to take care of our hearts, and consider our risk factors. Anyone that knows me and my family, knows that heart problems run deep. My Grandpa Underbakke suffered numerous heart problems over the years, including bypass surgery. My Grandpa Brink had heart valve replacement surgery. And now, heart problems have claimed the life of one of the most important men in my life, my amazing father.
I have ALWAYS been a huge proponent of going to the doctor for annual physicals. Maybe this has to do with my family history, maybe has to do with my thyroid disease, I’m not really sure. But I’ve always encouraged people to get their annual checkups! THEY CAN BE LIFESAVING!
Not only is February American Heart Month, today is also Giving Hearts Day. An opportunity to donate to your favorite charity. In honor of my family, I have chosen a new favorite charity, the American Heart Association.
I will be participating in the Central Iowa Heart Walk this year, on April 30th. Appropriately, my team name is Brink Racing. I would love for you to join my team, whether in person here in Des Moines, or virtually - walking on your own. Or, if you would like to donate, you can do so by visiting the link below!
Each day I am trying to do more to better my heart health. You only get one body, so take care of it!

I walk because I know that with every step, I'm making a difference in someone's life. And when combined with a million other Heart Walk Heroes across the nation, we have an even greater impact toward curing heart disease and stroke. Will you be a Heart Walk Hero with me?
Your donation will fund groundbreaking research that literally keeps hearts beating and helps people have longer, healthier lives.
