It is that time of year again when I humbly ask you to consider donating to a fundraiser that is near and dear to me.
Not only have I been working in the field of stroke for the last 13 years, I have also seen how devastating stroke can be. Last year, I shared the story about my grandma who died of a stroke in 1999. I was the one who found her and called 911, forever leaving a lasting impression upon my heart. Stroke interventions have come so far and I have no doubt the situation for my grandma could have been significantly different had she had access to these advanced treatments. I remain so impassioned about this topic because of this and I am dedicated to continuing the work to improve outcomes from stroke.
Lastly, the importance of cardiac care has been life saving to my wife, Morgan. Many of you are aware she lives with a congenital heart condition and has undergone three open heart surgeries throughout her life. She is a daily reminder how important cardiac research is. Morgan continues to live a high quality of life and brought two healthy children into this world due to advances in cardiac care. The enormity of these advancements has profoundly impacted my life and the lives of those who know and love Morgan and our children. This cause will never not be personal for me.
These reasons alone make it an easy decision to support the Heart and Stroke Walk. Please consider donating to this important cause. I am incredibly grateful for all the support in the past and appreciate any support you can provide in this ongoing endeavor.
