On April 1, 2019, I passed out during lunch with a colleague. Like, hit the bench seat, send glasses flying and talk nonsensical pass out. While we enjoyed kidding one another, this was not an April Fool’s joke on my part. I called my usually calm and cool husband who surprised me by saying I should get checked out. I was going to keep on keeping on like moms do. Another colleague insisted she drive me to the hospital (where I now work). Turns out, my heart stopped and was slow to get back up to speed. I needed a pacemaker to address sinus node dysfunction. This explained my extreme fatigue and foggy mindedness over winter and spring (that I attributed to working, commuting and parenthood). The picture above is me post-surgery on May 22, 2019. I am not a fan of selfies but this moment seemed worthy of one. I am well today, with a keen understanding of the importance of heart health and continued research. Please support me and the Hendricks Regional Health marketing team as we step up to help raise lifesaving funds and awareness. Did you know? Heart disease and stroke are on the rise for the first time in decades. Let’s right the ship. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
