I walk as an over three-year survivor of a sudden cardiac arrest! My wife Marianne Gillingham Curtis will always be my HERO for performing CPR until the skilled City of Gladstone, Fire/EMS EMTs stabilized me, got me to North Kansas City Hospital where I spend the next 30 days - first in the ER, then in the ICU, then in telemetry, and finally in in-patient rehab. My journey to recovery then included an outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program at North Kansas City Hospital, where the amazing rehab nurses worked on exercise, stress reduction, and dietary changes that have been a part of my life ever since. At each step of the way, my treatment and recovery has been impacted by the work of the American Heart Association, as they support not only research on the underlying causes and prevention of heart attacks and strokes, but also on resources and tools to help folks who are affected - victims and their families. If you are able to donate to my walk, I thank you! If not, take care of yourselves, and remember what's important in this life, don't ever take our time here for granted!
Have a heart and help me reach my goal today!
