I walk because I know the importance of a healthy heart. In June 2018 I experienced a SCAD heart attack. A very rare heart attack that often occurs to healthy, active women in their 40's. That was me. I had recurring symptoms for two days and didn't do anything about it at first. When I finally went to the doctor, it took me by surprise when the doctor in the ER told me that I was having a heart attack. After two procedures in the Cath Lab, I now have a small stent that helped my heart to heal and me to continue to live a healthy and active life.
It took my experience to open my eyes to see just how many people are affected by and live with heart disease. If it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.
