Life is my why.
So many of my family members suffer from heart disease. My grandmother and mother have both suffered massive heart attacks that took their lives. Seven years prior to my mom's life-ending heart attack she suffered a massive stroke that left her with a very poor quality of life. Although we were told she would never walk or talk again, through intensive therapy, she was able to walk unassisted for very short distances and could speak enough to communicate with those who knew her well. Though we were thankful for the additional seven years, her quality of life was not optimal.
My husband has genetic hypertension that he has had to manage since his early 20's and in 2017 at age 44, he had to have double bypass surgery due to an 80% blockage in his "widowmaker".
At 15 my son was diagnosed with pre-hypertension and is followed by Cardiology at Children's Hospital.
