I walk for my grandma, Barbara, who passed away nearly 5 years ago. She survived at least one major stroke and at least one mini stroke, before a final major stroke finally took her life. This year, she would have been 85 years old. Every day since she's been gone, I think about her...think about whether I'm doing everything I can to make her proud.
While I know I can't save anyone else from that pain of losing someone the way I lost her, but educating more people on the warning signs of a stroke can help save lives. And the American Heart Association uses donations from events such as the Heart Walk to help fund research that will help keep people living longer, healthier lives.
