My brother, David, died on August 8, 1993 at the age of 14. It was a Sunday afternoon when I answered the phone, my brother's best friend on the other end of the line telling me they were doing CPR on him after he collapsed while mowing the lawn.
Sudden cardiac death. That's what his death certificate states. What has always been difficult is not knowing what exactly caused it. He was so young. He was very healthy & had started running with me that summer, training for cross country. So, they did testing on me to see if any heart conditions came up...nothing.
This is a big part of why I have such a passion for what I do. And it's every part of why I am helping to raise money with our team for the Heart Walk. ~ "When you donate to the American Heart Association, you are joining the fight against our nation's No. 1 and No. 5 killers - heart disease and stroke. Your donation helps us fund lifesaving research, advocate for healthier communities, improve patient care and work for equitable health for all people." (heart.org)
Please consider a donation if you can and/or share this post if you are willing. Thank you!
