This will be my 18th year participating with Team Oblinger. As many of you know, I met Kurt at 2006 Transplant Games after he received his life saving heart transplant. What many of you don’t know is that both Kurt and his brother, Keith were both diagnosed with congestive heart disease and while Keith was able to control it with medication, Kurt was not. Unfortunately, Keith passed away in a car accident one day before Kurt was notified about needed a life saving transplant in 2005. Kurt created Team Oblinger in memory of his brother Keith. While Kurt live life to the utmost fullest, he passed away from heart failure on April 24, 2011 (Easter Sunday). It was a call I will never forget. I had just talked to him the night before talking volleyball strategy for our upcoming game. We, as their family and friends, are honored to carry on the legacy of Kurt and Keith in Team Oblinger by walking in The American Heart Association's Heart Mini. Your simple donation will help more moms, dads, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, grandmas and grandpas enjoy more days with loved ones while they navigate with heart and vascular diseases. Please join me in saving lives!
